Brief Biography

Goals

My primary goal is to teach youngsters to get along with other children. Social skills are extremely important. Once those skills are learned, learning may take place. In our class we work with positions of top to bottom, left to right, front to back, opposites, rhyming words, sequence of events, basic science concepts, Bible stories and how God would like us to behave and believe, and some concepts such as voting, Presidents’ Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc.

Because each of the children are developing at varied rate, we try to work with their eye-hand coordination with writing and coloring. Children in our class learn to count and write numbers from one (1) to ten (10) (they recognize numbers to 20). In our four-year old program they learn to write and the sound of each letter of the alphabet and some vowels. This is a good start for Kindergarten the following year.

Room

Our room arrangement is one of ease for working at tables, both to use for manipulatives, as well as working on academic papers. We leave ample room for playtime and also dramatic play (firemen, store keepers, veterinarian, hospital and family living).
